Julian’s Story

After graduating with honors from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, England, Julian Reeve built a global career as a musician, educator, and entrepreneur, performing to millions while founding companies and lmentoring creative talent around the world.

He contributed to more than twenty international Broadway productions, including seven in London’s West End, before becoming Music Director for the Broadway smash-hit Hamilton in the United States. He led the first presentations of the show at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and at the Centro de Bellas Artes Luis A. Ferré in Puerto Rico alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda, later earning the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Music Direction.

Alongside his performing career, Julian founded JPR Productions Ltd, producing large-scale theatrical concert tours across Europe, and later co-founded the boutique talent agency Boland & Reeve in London. As an educator and mentor, he helped thousands of students develop musicianship, confidence, and psychological resilience.

The Wake Up Call

All of this success came at a cost.

In 2017, while conducting Hamilton in San Francisco, Julian experienced a stress-related heart attack at the age of 43. Years of sustained pressure, constant change, high-level leadership responsibility, and the pursuit of excellence without sufficient recovery had finally taken their toll.

Recovery required more than physical healing. It demanded a fundamental re-examination of how success was being achieved and sustained in environments defined by pressure and change. ‍

The Breakthrough

That experience led Julian to study burnout, performance psychology, and organizational culture more deeply. Working with psychologists, executives, educators, and creative leaders, he began to identify a consistent pattern: burnout was rarely caused by a lack of individual resilience alone. More often, it emerged from cultures and systems inside high-performing organizations that failed to support performance and recovery sustainably.

From this work, Perfect Equilibrium® emerged — a practical methodology that helps leaders and organizations understand how mindset, systems, and strategy interact to shape performance and well-being in times of change.
