Born in Cambridge, England, Julian has enjoyed a successful and varied career in music, business, and education.
He has traveled the world as a musician, working on over twenty-five major musical theatre productions across the U.S., Asia, Europe, Scandinavia and extensively in London’s West End before moving from England to the USA, where he became the Music Director for the Broadway musical Hamilton on its 1st national tour. He was presented with the Los Angeles Drama Critic Circle and the Broadway World Award for Best Music Direction for his work on the show and went on to conduct the production at the Bellas Artes theatre in Puerto Rico starring Lin-Manuel Miranda.
In business, he founded two production companies and managed an independent record label before co-founding a boutique talent agency in London. His extensive work in education includes acting as a performance specialist in many of the UK’s leading performing arts schools while giving workshops and masterclasses to students across the U.S, Canada, Scandinavia, and the Far East. He is a regular faculty member for The Broadway Experience in New York and Tokyo.
Julian was just 43 when he suffered a mild heart-attack after conducting a performance of Hamilton in San Francisco. Work with a psychologist would identify perfectionism as the root cause, and having now quit performing due to injury, he works as a perfectionism specialist empowering perfectionists and the organizations that employ them with the knowledge and skills to manage perfectionism in healthier ways.
His extensive work on the subject includes a Tedx Talk, a children’s book, and numerous articles for leading publications including The Hill and CEOWorld Magazine. He has been featured across numerous other media outlets including CBS, ABC, Authority Magazine, and on many Top 200 Podcasts.
He lives with his wife, Lisa, and dog, Ollie in California.
